Shipping Fulfillment and Updates: Weather, Holidays, and Carrier ImpactsUpdated an hour ago

At Small Pet Select, we’re committed to ensuring your orders arrive as smoothly and quickly as possible—even when weather, holidays, or other disruptions impact delivery. Here’s the latest on how these events may affect shipping.


Current Weather and Holiday Updates

  • Wildfires in California
    Wildfires continue to disrupt delivery services in some areas. Safety remains the top priority for carriers, and delays are expected in regions with road closures or evacuation orders.

  • Severe Winter Weather
    Winter storms have brought snow, freezing rain and icy roads across parts of the country, slowing carrier operations. We’re monitoring the situation to keep things moving as safely as possible.

  • USPS National Day of Observance Closure: USPS had suspended mail deliveries, pickups, and retail services on Thursday, January 9th. Regular operations resumed on Friday, January 10th. 

  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 20)
    In observance of MLK Day, there will be no pickups or deliveries by UPS, FedEx, or USPS. Our warehouses and customer service teams will also be closed. Regular operations will resume on January 21.



Warehouse Operations

  • Safety Comes First
    To protect our team during severe weather, our Kentucky warehouse, near UPS's main hub, may adjust operations as needed.

  • Weekend and Holiday Closures
    Most of our warehouses are closed on weekends, so orders placed during this time will begin processing on Monday. However, our WA and KY warehouses operate with a half-day schedule on Sundays, allowing some orders to begin processing earlier and reducing potential delays.

  • Flexible Fulfillment
    Your order may be split and shipped from a different warehouse depending on stock availability. This helps minimize delays and get your pet supplies to you faster.


Carrier Updates

  • UPS
    UPS facilities are operational where conditions allow, though wildfires and weather events may cause delays in some regions.

  • FedEx
    FedEx is working hard to maintain deliveries during weather and other service disruptions

  • USPS

    Winter storms and severe weather impacting delivery

    Heavy snow, freezing rain, icy conditions, and severe weather events in the Northeast U.S. (Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Vermont, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine) may impact the processing, transportation, and delivery of mail and packages.Please allow additional time for final delivery of your item.

    Wildfires (Palisades, Eaton) in Southern California (Malibu, Santa Monica, Los Angeles, Pasadena, and San Fernando) are impacting the delivery of mail and packages.

  • Order Early
    Stock up on hay, bedding, and other essentials to account for potential delays.
  • Track Your Package
    Use the tracking link in your confirmation email for the latest updates on your order.
  • Choose Reliable Shipping
    Orders over 5 lbs qualify for UPS Ground, which is often the fastest and most dependable shipping option.
